DOLE conducts PhilJobNet and National Skills Registration to the 500 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Grantees

Panabo City – The Department of Labor and Employment ROXI (DOLE-ROXI) through the Davao del Norte Field Office (DNFO) in partnership with PESO-Panabo City, PESO-ACES Polytechnic College and PESO-DNSC conducted PhilJobNet and National Skills Registration services during the first ever Social Investiture for National Achievers of Grants-in-Aid (SINAG) ceremony held at the Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) gymnasium New Visayas, Panabo City on May 6, 2016.



Davao del Norte Field Office Chief Ms. Erlinda G. Mamitag representing the Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao in her closing message, she congratulated all graduates that despite the hardships they succeeded and earned their college degree. She stressed that government programs and services such as the scholarship that they have availed will not be a successful one if less or no grantees will make it to final stage --- the graduation rites. Before she ends her message, Ms. Mamitag briefly explains the DOLEs PhilJobNet and National Skills Registration services that all graduates can avail.

These said graduates are Students Grants-in-Aide Grantees for Poverty Alleviation (SGP-PA) came from various state colleges and universities throughout Davao Region. They are famously called scholars of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. Of the 503 total students, 168 graduated in Davao del Norte, 209 in Davao Oriental, 25 in Davao del Sur, 68 in Davao Occidental and 33 in Davao City. Among these graduates, 14 are with academic awards and 43 have special awards like Special Awardee, Dean’s Lister, With Honors and other special awards.

Personalities present in the said activity are DSWD USEC. Camilo G. Gugmalin, CHED Director IV Engr. Ronaldo A. Liveta, CHED ROXI Education Supervisor Christopher Pio O. Pulido, Supervising Education Program Specialist Dr. Susan F. Labutap. Presidents of participating state colleges, DOSCST Dr. Edito B. Sumile, USEP Dr. Lourdes C. Generalao, SPAMAST Dr. Irvin C. Generalao and DSNC Dr. Jonathan A. Bayogan. From DWSD program implementers, OIC Asst. Regional Director for Operations Ms. Rebecca Santamaria.

Also present, are the SINAG Coordinators of State Colleges and Universities, DSWD Pantawid Staff, Deans of SUCs, PESO Managers of ACES Panabo and LGU Panabo.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The SGP-PA started in 2012 and is being implemented by the DSWD in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). With its initial graduates of 634 and later the program expanded to 2,028 grantees and currently enrolled in Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), Davao Oriental Stage College and Technology (DOSCST), University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) and Southeastern Philippines Agri-Business and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST). To date, the SGP-PA has now 40,000 beneficiaries.

The SGPPA program aims to contribute to the National Government’s thrusts in addressing poverty alleviation by increasing the number of graduates in higher education among poor households and to facilitate the employment in high-value added occupations and promote livelihood opportunities in order to lift their families out of poverty, thus contributing to the national development.

This event aims to showcase the achievements of student grantees for successfully completing their college education and in recognition of the support of the key partners. (DNFO-LRO)
